Today was my first day back to my Summer job. I'm a camp counselor at a park in my town. I have the biggest headache ever right now... Kids are a lot of work! Especially watching kids in the hot sun all day. But, it was great. I love the kids. They are all so full of energy and they make me feel like a kid all over again. I also have wonderful coworkers who I love so very much!
And, the best part about camp is...... I DON'T OVER EAT!
I make sure that I pack a lunch that is about 8 points. I am no where near my kitchen, and everything that I pack is pre-bagged up and contains a certain point value. Therefore, I cannot over eat...which is lovely. =)
I also love camp because I am up off my butt all day! I play around with the kids all day, so it keeps me very active.
A bad part about camp is that by the time I get home, I am exhausted and have no energy for working out. We'll see how this goes. Hopefully the activity that I do at camp will count as a workout?? Hopefully I'll lose all this weight that I've gained!!!
Well, the Bachelorette is on.......I'm out!
Til next time,
Karla =)

I'm Back!
Back from Maine and feeling very tired even though I got a full nights sleep. It's an awful long 5 hour trip back home.
Maine was great. Some pictures...not many because it rained everyday. But, even through the pouring rain, the BF and I were able to visit with my grandparents, do a little shopping, see things we have never seen before, take a trip to the lighthouse, and EAT.
Above is me eating a lobster roll at the all too famous "Red's Eats" It was SO good!!
There they are...so packed with lobster you can barely see the bun!
Above is the BF and I in front of the very, very foggy lighthouse.
Grandpa, an Indian that they wanted to stand next to, Grandma, and Me!
Me and the beautiful but pretty darn foggy ocean view!
I am not sure if I gained or not this week. My guess is that I did. Maine has a lot of good fudge shops along the coast and I must have eaten a half pound of fudge throughout the entire vacation. We also went out to breakfast a few times and I did my best to stay healthy there. I don't think I've gained a whole ton of weight, but I wouldn't be surprised if I gained 3 pounds.
But, surprisingly enough, I am not scared about gaining. I am ready to get back on track and start tracking my food again and working out. Nothing but blue skies ahead. =)
Monday is my first day back at my summer job. I have been at this job for a few years now. I am a camp counselor for 3rd and 4th grade girls. I get to use my dance skills and teach them a dance for their talent show. It's quite fun! I get to spend 6 hours outside in the sun, who could ask for a better job. I love being outside. =)
Tonight is Rascal Flatts. I'm sooo excited. Can't wait. It's supposed to rain, but luckily I have seats under a roof. Whew..
Hope everyone enjoys the weekend. My weekend is pack with engagement parties and graduation parties. Should be....fun?
Until next time,
Karla =)

Hi from Maine
So I've been in Maine the whole weekend and will be here until Thursday.
So far the weather has been horrible. It has rained everyday!! But, I guess you can't get everything you want sometimes! Oh well..
I have done a lot of shopping and visiting with my grandparents. I have really enjoyed my stay here even though the weather has not been on my side.
I am looking forward to going to see the Rascal Flatts concert too on Friday! I am going with my roommate and my BF. I am getting so excited!!! But, I don't want to leave Maine.. =(
Thankfully, the BF and I will be coming back to Maine in August after my summer job ends. Hopefully the weather will be better then!
I was hoping to take tons of pictures, but we haven't been anywhere to take them because of the rain. So, no pictures!! =(
Hope you all are enjoying the week.
Til next time,
Karla =)

This matters.
I'm praying that I'm able to get up to Maine. I miss my grandparents ='(
I actually shed one tear today. Sounds funny I know. But, I either have these big, huge, blubbery, sniffly, hysterical episodes of sadness...or I have times where I well up but nothing comes out. Well, today... only one tear. I was able to hold myself together after that. Mainly because crying hurts my wisdom teeth (or lack there of..)
Do you ever have that feeling of complete and utter overwhelming sadness ...maybe for no reason at all. And your eyes well up, and you feel everything just ready to run out of you..and you just...can't cry?
I get that way all the time. Sheesh.. that sounds depressing. But, I don't know, I think everyone kind of gets that way sometimes and I think for me anyway, it helps sometimes.
Gosh, I don't even know why I started to well up. I was thinking about the chance that I may not be going to Maine if I don't get my stitches out.... and then one thing led to another. When I think of my grandparents who live in Maine, I think of their son whom they lost almost 30 years ago when he was 17.
I guess... to them, they think of me as kind of a "re-birth" of him. I have his high school ring. I mean, they gave it to ME...out of 6 grandchildren. And my Grandparents always tell me how proud they are of me and how much they see him in me. When I had my recital a few weeks ago, and they came... I was ... floored. They had never come before. And, from the stage, I could see my Grandmother's eyes welling up. Maybe because she is proud of me, maybe because she loves seeing me do what I love to do, maybe because I remind her of Billy. Maybe because I'm 20, and I have surpassed his age of death.. or maybe it's because she knows that this might be the last year she can see me dance.
When I saw her glossy eyes from the stage, it was hard for me to keep my composure. I was smiling SO hard to just fight through the tears. It was a good feeling though. Isn't it crazy how powerful LOVE can be sometimes?
So anyway, every opportunity I get to see them, I go for it. I have missed out on a lot of stuff so that I could see them. And it hurts me to know that maybe I won't be going if I don't get my stitches out. And I know they don't mind if I don't end up going. But, I want to. Because, every time may be the last. You know?
This matters.
Speaking of things that matter, here is a song by Rascal Flatts that is so beautiful and inspiring. Take a listen? You'll be glad you did. Such an amazing song.
My weigh-in is tomorrow. Ohhh boy.
All for now,
Karla =)

Ayyyee..
So I am in a little bit of pain still...but, that's to be expected. Although, it sucks!
But, being the HAPPY, POSITIVE person that I TRY to be....I'm getting through it!
I was able to eat more today (yay!).
I reaaaaaaallllly hope that I can leave for Maine on Friday. If everything goes well, I'll be able to have my stitches out and leave Friday afternoon.
I have to rinse my mouth out with warm salt water 4 times a day (after each "meal") Those rinses suck! OMG... they are so disgusting. Warm, salty water is nasty! Tastes soo bad. But, I am getting through it. It stings too...
It's been a lazy day today...doing light housework, and a lot of resting. Spent some time outside in the sun which I haven't seen in a few weeks. It's supposed to rain tomorrow through Sunday, so I won't see the sun again until Monday when I will hopefully be in Maine enjoying my vacation with the BF!!!
This was a boring post. Life is boring after losing all my wisdom!! hehehe =)
Til next time,

Feeling a little better..
Well I had a pretty decent night sleep seeing as though I had to be propped up all night (dentist's orders). My back is killing me from being propped up, but I slept okay much to my surprise.
No pain this morning, just uncomfortable. I don't like how I cannot fully open my mouth. I just wish this whole thing would be over with. The stitches are awfully annoying.
Mom took the day off today to be with me again like she did yesterday. We may go out for a girls day. That would be nice. It's nice to be able to get your mind off things.
Yesterday, I took 2 perkasets?? SPelling?? Anyway, they are pain killers. They made me so loopy, and almost numb from head to toe. I did not like that feeling one bit, so last night I took 2 tylenol and felt much better.
As for the procedure... they put me on gas first because my blood pressure was too high to start with an IV. So, I wore the mask and was numb everywhere... I loooved that. I laughed a lot. Then, the nurse put the IV in and I could have cared less. But, I was waking up just as they were finishing the last tooth. So, the nurse put the gas mask on me and I really could have cared less.
After, I was a bit upset that I was told I was going to be sedated via IV but instead, they used gas. I like knowing what is going to happen, and of course, the nurse just put the mask over my nose before I could say...." I thought I was going to get an IV"
Whatever... it was an okay experience. I'm not the type of person that likes being altered in any way. I feel as though drugs and pills and laughing gas and all that are not natural at all. Even when I have a few drinks with friends, I never let it get too far because I do not like the feeling of being drunk. Don't know why, I just like being my regular old natural self!!
But, all in all, the procedure was fine. Was in tons of pain yesterday but am much better today. Hoping I get to eat more today than I did yesterday. Yesterday I only had a chocolate milkshake and I could tell my blood sugar level was severely low. I have had problems with that in the past, which is why I eat little snacks in between meals. Hopefully I can eat more today.
Well, that's all for now, until next time..

this sucks..
Well, its all over. All my wisdom teeth are out. I am thankful for that.
But, now... I am trying to keep very strong.
I didn't realize just how painful the aftermath would be. I am in a good amount of pain. And... that sucks. I am hungry but I don't really feel like I can eat. I have had nothing to eat all day but I am planning on having a chocolate milkshake soon.
The pain meds are making me loopy and very sleepy. The gauze makes me gag..so I have thrown up once. Not pleasant...
Another unfortunate thing is that I got stitches and need to get them out on Friday morning. So there goes my plans for heading to Maine on Thursday for my vacation. I was extremely upset about that. I am feeling better now about that though. If all goes well, we will just leave on Friday after my appt. to remove the stitches. I hope that everything will have healed enough to get them out so that I can go to Maine.
Anyway, thank you to everyone who gave me advice and thought of me today =)
I am doing fine, just hoping to recover soon.
Thank you again.
Til next time,
Karla =)

I Made the Paper!! =)
Yes, you heard me correctly. I'm in the paper for my recent dance recital. Actually, it's not just about me at all...it's about my whole entire dance school. But there is a part that talks about my mom and my aunt because they celebrated their 25th year of dance....and it is briefly mentioned that I am part of the family. Here is a little excerpt ....
"Viewers can always count on graceful synchronized dances performed by the Stardusters. Together for over 40 years, these dancers set the tone for the Revue with a Broadway style tap number from the musical Chicago, and reappeared later in the performance with a stunning soft shoe number, "Over The Rainbow.""
-Newtown Bee
The Stardusters is my class!! WooHoo!!
Here is the excerpt about my Mom and Aunt,
"Sisters Darlene Walker Spencer and Linda Walker Uhde performed a tap number choreographed by Linda to the big band sound. The duo tapped and smiled, celebrating 25 years of dancing. Their mom, Marie Walker, celebrated her birthday in fine style as she proudly watched her daughters and granddaughter dance."
-Newtown Bee
Yeah, the "Granddaughter" part....that's ME!! =)
I love love love what I do, but I also love love love love loveeee being recognized for it. Not only was their a small tiny mention of me and my family, but ... there was also a huge picture of all of the Stardusters and I actually look decent in it this year!!! All thanks to WW!!
Whew! OK.. back to reality. Yesterday was my weigh in and I'm down a pound from last weeks 3 pound gain. I'm glad at that. But, I did thought I would lose more after my crazy dance weekend. Oh well. That's okay. I don't know how much eating I will be doing this week because of my wisdom teeth extraction on Monday. So, I hope that doesn't screw up my weight loss. I've been told NOT eating makes you gain weight....which, has happened to me before. We'll see I guess.
I'm still very anxious for it. Just want the whole wisdom teeth removal process to be over.. I think tomorrow night I will start getting very nervous. I hope these HUGE pills I have to take tomorrow will help with the anxiety.
Anyway, not much happening in my life right now. Just getting ready for my vacation this coming Thursday and waiting for Monday to come so I can just get all my wisdom taken out of me!!!
Til next time...

Catching up
Well I haven't posted since Friday...so there is a lot to say. Get ready!!
Friday was a horrible day. It started with my morning weigh in. I gained.. 3 pounds. Yeah.. I'm not too happy about it. I think, or ... I know rather... that it was because I was getting so nervous for my recital that I was eating everything that I had in my house. I ended up in negative weekly points by the end of my week. NEVER AGAIN! I had my first recital on Friday night and that went SO well which made up for my gain a little bit.
Then Saturday, my grandparents from Maine drove down to see me and they had breakfast with me and my parents. We drove them around town and brought them to people's houses of whom they hadn't seen in years since they used to live in our town. Before I knew it, it was time to get ready for my next recital and so I went home to get ready. My grandparents watched my first recital on Saturday and my Aunt and Uncle watched my second recital on Saturday. It was so much fun to perform in front of them. Especially my grandparents from Maine because they have never seen me dance. It was wonderful.
Then Sunday came around. I spent a lot of the morning sleeping...and then getting ready for my last 2 shows. The first show was crappy....not a lot of people were there and the audience was not very entertained (or so it seemed by their lack of clapping...) But, the second show was AMAZING!! I did my very best as my 2 college roommates, my BF, my other grandparents, my Dad, my brother, my 4 year old cousin, and my Uncle all watched. It's such an indescribable feeling to be performing in front of people, especially family and friends. It's such a high, and I'm a little sad that it's all over! =(
After the show, I saw my friends and family. My Dad had actually come down to see me and my Mom after the show..and.......he had flowers! That is the first time he has ever done that. Usually he just leaves. I was real happy that he chose to stay.
Their were a lot of pictures taken and tons of bouquets of flowers that were given. My BF gave me a dozen roses and a necklace with a tap from a tap shoe on it. It's so beautiful. I love it!
Here are some pictures. Enjoy! =)
This pic is the very end of my first dance...a repeat from last year.. Hot Honey Rag from Chicago!
The BF and I pose before my last show!!
My Mom, Me, and my Aunt Linda. All with flowers from my roommate, Kelly!
Me and Mrs. Lathrop...isn't she beautiful! Doesn't look 94 years old at all!
My Mom and my Aunt....Sisters celebrating 25 years of dance!
My Aunt's son (my cousin) and I. Isn't he adorable!!!!
This dance was to the song, "Cat and Mouse of Victor Victoria". My Aunt and I pose at the end of this dance.
My Mom and Aunt doing their 25 years duet!
"Somewhere Over the Rainbow"... ending pose!
More of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow"
My BF and I after the recital..
This is the tap necklace he gave me. This is supposed to look like the taps that I have on my tap shoes. I love this necklace!!!
Hope everyone had a spectacular weekend, I know I did!!
Til next time..

SO excited.
I have not been updating this as regularly as I would like. But it's been hard to with all the "goings on" lately.
I've been spending a lot of my time trying to get all my costumes and accessories together for my recitals this weekend. Whew....it's hard work!!
I got my nails done yesterday which was so very relaxing. I got them painted bright pink! The lady that did my nails was talking to me and I was telling her that I was a Starduster (The Stardusters are the name of my dance group) and I told her that my recitals were this coming weekend. I asked her if she could paint a few stars on my nails, and she did! I'm so happy! Hopefully the stars will give me some good luck! Haha..
Anyway... I have dress rehearsal tonight. I'm a bit nervous. I usually get a little anxious and nervous around this time. Dress rehearsal is a very long and drawn out process and is usually very stressful. Somtimes, we are told to do our dances over and over again which gets tiring. But, I'll get through it....I have been working out everyday this week which is great. I feel like I am really prepared for this whirlwind of a weekend. Five shows are begining to feel like nothin!!
Maybe if I have some time, I will be able to blog about dress rehearsal and how good or bad it went. Tomorrow morning is my weigh day and I am hoping that dress rehearsal will help knock off a pound or 2! We'll see.
Until next time,
Karla =)

Maybe if I have some time, I will be able to blog about dress rehearsal and how good or bad it went. Tomorrow morning is my weigh day and I am hoping that dress rehearsal will help knock off a pound or 2! We'll see.
Until next time,
Karla =)
