Weekend in review!

This weekend was Scott's birthday weekend. He turned 23 on Saturday. I ended up taking him to Boston instead of the Statue of Liberty. It was a really good time. I think he had fun. We got pretty lost, because I don't know my way around Boston at all. But, we were able to go up to the Prudential Tower and see all of Boston. We also walked around the Boston Common, ate lunch at Cheers, and walked the Freedom Trail to Quincy Market.

I got my hair cut/colored on Saturday. I kind of ditched the blonde and went more with my natural hair color. I don't know if I like it really.. but Scott does. So that's good! =)

Yesterday was nice. Scott and I got up early to go hiking/take pictures. He loves photography almost as much as I do now. We have a lot of fun with it. We hiked to a waterfall and took a few pictures there. It was beautiful.

Last night, I went with Scott and his family to the casino to celebrate his birthday. I usually don't play the slots, and when I do... I usually lose. But this time, I won $20! Not bad. Not a lot, but way better than losing.

Spring break is over. I'm bummed. School is tough. It's a struggle sometimes. This has been another hard semester. I guess it just keeps getting harder from here on out. Ugh.

No dance this week because of Easter. I'm bummed about that too. =(

But, there are things to be happy about. This upcoming weekend is supposed to be so nice (weather wise) and, it's Easter! Spring is here!

I'm on this new...Positivity Kick!

Yesterday was a struggle. I had to deal with a flooded basement. My front yard was also completely dug up... and we found the "root" of the problem. No pun intended.

Yes... there were roots in the underground water piping. Fun fun. New pipes that will not allow roots in will be replaced in the ground and hopefully our yard will be back to normal soon? =)

Tonight, I am going to Scott's house to help him clean up his garage. He is very interested in cars and works on cars all the time. His garage is an absolute mess. Hopefully it will be semi more clean after tonight. I should take before and after pictures. Yeah.

What else? Hmmm.

I'm excited for dance tomorrow night. Should be fun. We are learning a lot in the newer dances. We only have 2 done. We have 2 to go...and we only have 8 more classes before the recital. Ahhhhhh!

I have been eating horribly. I think it's Spring Break that is getting to me. I feel like I should just eat whatever I want! I have to fix that. Just because I'm on vacation from school, doesn't mean I should be on vacation from eating right.

I am getting my hair done on Saturday. I'm excited. My hair dresser is amazing. He makes me look gorgeous.

Scott's birthday is also on Saturday. He'll be 23. I'm so glad to be celebrating with him. If all goes well, I want to take him to the Statue of Liberty on Friday (he got the day off from work!!) On Sunday, I am going to the casino with him and his family to gamble. Should be fun. I'm excited! =)

YAY! So many reasons to be positive and happy!

Have an awesome day, and remember to...

Keep Smiling!

Life.

so here we are. on this spinning ball,
in the middle of the universe.
stuck with the mess life throws at us.
stuck with choices, decisions.
we have a short time here,
so the decisions we make are important.
whether or not you choose
to get up and face the day is important.

some days i just wake up,
and go through life absent-mindedly.
like, yesterday. when i didn't think-
before i spoke. didn't think.
i admit i was wrong.
but someone else was just as wrong.
but it's easy to put the blame all on me,
and not admit to your own faults.

i was being honest. like always.
and while others lie,
my honesty was questioned.
by someone who should know better.
by someone who should know that i am always honest.
always trustworthy. i suck at lying. i'm horrible at it.

i have to use my head more.
stop talking before thinking.
it's like a have no filter.
i just speak, and don't think
about how my words,
affect others. and so, for that,
i am sorry. i admit i was wrong.
but of course you never will.
you don't have the balls to admit your wrong doing.

I don't know what that is up there. That is just what came out onto a Microsoft Word document after a long, long night. Miscommunication, misunderstanding...

I need to re-evaluate the people in my life.

My new years resolution was to not let people get to me. Not let negativity come in. I have done so good so far. I plan on continuing to do good. So, I am keeping negative people and negative influences out of my life. It's not worth keeping them around. It's kind of like a spring cleaning of sorts. I feel good about it.

Ughhh.

It has been a sad/slow/frustrating start to my spring break. The weekend in Maine was nice though. Scott met my other set of grandparents and also met my aunt and uncle. He had a lot of fun. I loved showing him around. It was a nice, relaxing weekend.

Scott and I are doing great. He is amazing. Brings out the best in me. I think we bring out the best in each other. I can't even believe sometimes how well we are doing. Sure, we have bumps in the road... but it has only made us love each other more. I'm very lucky.

Now, it's raining. Pouring. Buckets. I hate it. I hate rain. It makes me even more miserable than I already am.

I have to teach today. Hopefully I can transform into a happy, smiley person.

My basement has flooded again. Ankle deep water. Our front lawn will be dug up at noon today to see what the problem is with the piping underground. Maybe I'll take pictures and put them up.

I still haven't put up pictures of my costumes. Mainly because no one was around to take a picture of me. Soon!

Karla =)

Thursday! =)

Oh how I love Thursdays. They are the absolute best.

I have dance tonight. Scott may come by and watch. He watched last week. I hope he enjoyed it. It's cool that he got to see me in my "element", if you will. My fellow dance-mates aren't used to seeing him around. They are all used to seeing my ex. Oh well. They'll get used to him.

I hope to post a picture of all my costumes today. =)

I am one class away from Spring Break and a nice relaxing weekend in Maine.

Yep. I am going to Maine tomorrow night with Scott. I have decided that I want my other set of Grandparents to meet him. My Grandfather had a stroke last week (another reason why I wasn't posting as much) and it occurred to me that it would kill me if they never got a chance to meet Scott.

So, we are leaving tomorrow night after Scott gets out of work. We should arrive in Maine around 11pm. We'll stay til Sunday night. It's just a short visit. But that gives me plenty of time to show Scott around Maine (he's never been). And it also gives me time to introduce him to my Grandparents. I can't wait. They mean so much to me and I hope they like him. But, I know they will. There isn't much not to like. He's amazing. =)

Spring Break is going to be filled with a ton of dancing. I also have a lot of hours where I'll be teaching. My goal is to also find a job. Wish me luck. Jobs are so hard to find right now but I'm in desperate need of some CA$H!

Scott's birthday is March 27th and I kind of let the cat out of the bag a few nights ago when I told him what I planned on doing with him for his birthday. I'm taking him to the Statue of Liberty. He's never been and I thought it would be a fun day trip. He loved the Empire State Building, and so I'm sure he'll love this. We're going to drive into NYC and park at the South Street Seaport. I've done it before, it's fairly easy. You just need to be a little fearless! =)

So... all in all... it looks like my Spring Break will be nice and relaxing. I hope!

Hope all of you had a good St. Patrick's Day yesterday. I spent mine in a 3 1/2 hour test for my Sociology class. UGH!

Pictures up soon I hope. =)

Til then...Keep Smiling,

Karla =)

A whole week has gone by!

Wow, I have not blogged in a whole week!

Reason: Tons of homework and not much to blog about.

Here are some updates.

Food/Weight: Going well. I have maintained my weight. (Awesome). I have noticed that I tend to not eat much during the week and then indulging on the weekends. I am trying so hard to stay away from that. Just because it's the weekend doesn't mean I should go crazy on food. Right?

School: Frustrating. Difficult. Time consuming. Annoying. I'd rather be doing other things. I feel like most of the classes I'm taking this semester are absolutely pointless.

Rockettes: I am most likely not going to try out. I am balancing too much on my plate with school and teaching. Yes, I am teaching 3 days a week for a fifth grade class. This is still my dream. I really want to try out and I know I will. But, right now... my head isn't in it. I haven't practiced enough. I am way too focused on school. I want to actually work hard at it and really try out with hopes of actually making the line and not just try out just for the hell of it. I don't know. What can I say? I'm a dancer, I'm a perfectionist. I want to actually try and be good and make it.

Dance: Got all of our costumes in now. I can put pictures up soon once I am home. I am excited about our recital this year. It will be different and emotional without Mrs. Lathrop... but I think she is definitely looking down on the Stardusters. She'd be proud.

Scott: Things are going very well with Scott and I. He gets me. And it's such a breath of fresh air to be spending time with someone that is my polar opposite. That may sound weird, but it is. We aren't alike at all... but that is what attracts me to him. He definitely keeps me on my toes. I just love what we have, and am thankful for it everyday. He treats me right, and respects me. He also believes in me and supports me with dance... which is a huge plus. His birthday is coming up and I have got a surprise up my sleeve for him. It should be fun. I can't wait.

Spring Break is next week. I can't wait. My goal is to start looking for a job. I need to start working because I am commuting next semester. I need a job for the summer and into the fall.

I also want to do more with dance now that I will have the time... and if the weather is nice, I want to do more with photography.

I also have tons of long-term projects due in late April that I could get started on.

Hope to be blogging more than I have. Hope all of you readers are doing well.

Keep Smiling,

Karla =)

He danced with me

I stayed at Scott's house on Sunday night. He had just gotten back from a weekend in Vermont. I was happy to see him. We went out to dinner and drove around and he told me all about how much fun he had. It was nice.

When we got back to his house, we went up to his room and I started playing music. I have a playlist on playlist.com (aka... my lifeline). Life without music is a life not worth living. I always need to be listening to music. So, I turn on music and all of a sudden, Scott surprised me.

He grabbed my hand and put his other hand around my back. He pulled me in and we started slow dancing right there in his bedroom. I was blown away. No guy has ever initiated that with me! It was really nice. He knows I'm into dance...obviously. So it's nice to know that he cares about things that I am interested in. I was on cloud nine. Still am.

He's awesome.

He wants me to try-out for the Rockette's. He is very adamant that I should do it. He's right too, I should do it. I probably will... I am just very nervous.

I bought Train tickets. No... not for an actual train. I bought tickets for Scott and I to go and see "Train" perform at Foxwoods casino in CT. I guess I would put them in the "pop/rock" category as far as music goes. They sing "Drops of Jupiter", "Calling All Angels", and now after being apart for 3 years, they have come back together and released their latest single, "Hey, Soul Sister".

That song is kind of like, "our" song... in a way. So, I bought tickets to go and watch them perform. That's on Friday. I'm excited. Scott's excited.

It should be fun.

Happy Tuesday!

Karla =)

Rockette Auditions!

So, it is now official. The Radio City Music Hall website has posted this years date for Rockette auditions.

Thursday April 29th, 2010.

Callbacks are Friday April 30th 2010.

Of course the auditions are on a Thursday in late April. I have dance classes on Thursdays, and especially in late April/early May, dance class is mandatory. This is mainly because our recitals are usually in late May/early June. Practices are crucial around this period.

I am sure my instructors would understand if I do end up trying out.

In my heart... I want to try-out, but my body is screaming.. NO!! I haven't really danced since my winter break. I should be using this time to train. I haven't done that. I'm not sure if I'd have enough energy to make it through the audition seeing as though at my mock Rockette audition in the summer, I was dying while doing the eye-high kicks!!

So I'm thinking about it. I am not totally sure if I'm going to try-out or not.

A lot of you may be saying... "What?? This is YOUR dream! What is there to think about?"

And... you'd be right.

But, I am a dancer. I am a perfectionist. I do not want to embarrass myself at an audition filled with girls who eat, sleep, and breath dancing. Dancing is my life. I love it. But, I don't dance nearly enough as I should for this HUGE dream that I have.

But on second thought... why should that stop me? This is MY dream. I shouldn't let potential embarrassment stop me.

So, I'm thinking. I may... and I may not. Either way, I'll be happy with my choice. And my happiness is all that matters.

Keep Smiling,

Karla =)

Showing Off

I need to show this off. My friend and roommate, Marisa Pellerin is an incredible photographer. She inspires me to do more with my own photography. Saturday, she is actually going to be taking pictures for her friend and her fiance who were recently engaged.

Bottom line... she is awesome at what she does.

Here are some pictures she took of me this week. They came out great. She makes me look wonderful. I don't know how she does it. But she does it well.

So what do you think?

Like it, Love it, Hate it?

Share your thoughts =)

OHH... and check out HER blog.

and remember to..

Some things never change

A few things..

1. This weekend is going to be FANTASTIC.

Why? Scott is out of the state for the weekend and I can have time for myself. To think. To dance. To kick back, catch up on homework, relax.

2. I'm still figuring out new goals. Still trying to get my motivation & mojo back. It will come back, I know it.

3. I may not be blogging everyday. I don't want this to turn into a diary. I want to write IMPORTANT things in here. Not just about what I did on the weekend. You know?

4. I'm sipping on a mike's hard pink lemonade... and yes... it's noon on a Thursday.

5. I am completely in love and obsessed with this shirt posted below.

This shirt was designed by a Radio City Rockette/professional dancer. She is one of my idols and she has a blog, it's here. It is awesome. She is the best. Very inspiring.

So here is the shirt. It is awesome. I want it. I will probably be ordering it today. It just has a lot of meaning for me. Every line in this shirt is kind of what I live by. Things I want to remember. Things I would like to think I represent. Truth.

Buy it here if you like it too: http://bit.ly/bbCxtu

Here are the words on the shirt:

Be you. But be the very best version of yourself. There is no need to be a cookie cutter version of what you think everyone wants you to be. There is a place for you. Somewhere.

If you get a correction-say thank you. Don’t talk back, don’t fight it, just fix it, or do your best to try. Anyone who is successful in life knows that great accomplishments require great sacrifice.

Do not fabricate or place expectations on anyone but yourself. It will only lead to disappointment. You can only expect the very best from yourself, because you are the only thing you can control. Everyone else is a gamble. Give people love, but do not empty your bank- You have to keep enough love in your own heart to stay full. The people who are worth it will stick around- the people who don't stick will stick somewhere else, and that is just the way it goes.

Choose love. Choose peace. Choose to see the things that you might not like, and try to understand them. Be compassionate towards others. The less you open your heart to others, the more your heart suffers.

Be prepared to lose it all. We cannot control anything in this life but what we do with what we have. You will always be able to stand in the middle of the street and give a mean 5,6,7,8. No one can take that away.

You might wake up one day and everything will be the same and everything will be different and everything and nothing will make sense. You will be happy and sad. You will be hopeful and hopeless.

And that is just the way it is.

I don't know. I kind of like that.

*** Oh. And today, a family friend came over the house. He is the father to a girl that I used to call my best friend. A friend since before I could walk, whom I have not seen in about 2 years. I miss her. I've called her. I've texted her. I've face-booked her. I've done it all to keep in touch. She had tried as well.. I don't blame her. Her mother passed away, and she was lost. I know she needed time to re-situate.

But... about 6 months ago, I gave up. I gave up trying to get in touch. It wasn't worth my trouble. It hurt.

Her Dad told me all about how she's doing. She was in a car accident too like I was, and needed a whole new car, like I did. Crazy. She is also going through a lot of the same things I'm going through. Old relationship died. New boy. Kind of un-motivated. Doesn't know yet which direction she is going to take in this fork in the road that she finds herself in. Kind of like me.

Some things never change. She is still the same. I am still the same. We are kind of the same. And so I cry, just a little... because she could use a friend, and so could I. Maybe I'll call her today. After all... the shirt says Choose to see the things that you might not like, and try to understand them. Be compassionate towards others. The less you open your heart to others, the more your heart suffers."

So here I go again, I will try to open my heart up again. After all, she is my best friend.

Haha, and this picture is her and I.... SO young!

Keep Smiling,

Karla =)

Taking a break

Yeah. I am taking a break from blogging. Just for this week. Don't worry! I'll be back, for all of you who still read.

I just need to get my life in order.
Figure things out.
Get my mojo back.
Reevaluate things.
Think about next steps in my future.
Prioritize.
Think about my goals.
Get focused on school.
Dance.
Smile more.
And think about all the wonderful things that I can do... if only I were not afraid to try.

I promise, when I come back... I'll be better than ever.

Hang in there blog world. I know it will be so hard without me!

Just Kidding!!

Have a good week. I'll be back soon! =)

And always remember to..

Keep Smiling
